These Halloween events in Glasgow will make sure your spooky season is anything but boring. From wandering around the Gothic Glasgow Cathedral and the eerie Necropolis to picking your perfect pumpkin at one of the many pumpkin patches in Scotland, there’s plenty to get you into the Halloween spirit.

Not to mention, Glasgow regularly ranks as one of the best places in the UK for nightlife, so you can also expect a cracking Halloween night out if that’s your thing. And if you’re planning to venture beyond Glasgow, don’t miss my Halloween in Edinburgh guide.

I’ve lived in Glasgow for over 10 years, so I’ve learned a thing or two about places worth visiting for Halloween, all of which I’ll be sharing in this post. So, it’s time to trick-or-treat yourself (see what I did there!) to an epic Halloween in the city!

Top Halloween Events in Glasgow 2025 You Won’t Want to Miss

Pick Your Perfect Pumpkin At A Local Pumpkin Patch

To be honest, there aren’t loads of pumpkin patches near the city centre of Glasgow — most are at least a 20-minute drive away. Although, in my opinion, the very best ones are over on the East Coast.

To help you out, I’ve put together a full guide to the top pumpkin patches to visit in Scotland this Halloween, so whether you want somewhere just a short drive from Glasgow or fancy venturing a bit further, you’ll find the perfect spot.

No matter which one you choose, visiting a pumpkin patch is a fantastic way to support local farms and get in the autumnal spirit. Most also offer extra attractions like spooky walks, tasty food and drink stalls, and more. Personally, I love the part that comes after: heading home, getting cosy, putting on a Halloween movie, and carving your pumpkin!

Celebrate the City’s 850th Anniversary at GlasGLOW

Situated in the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow’s West End, GlasGLOW is an immersive light show and storytelling experience. This year’s theme celebrates the icons of Glasgow’s past and present, marking the city’s 850th anniversary.

The GlasGLOW route takes around 60 minutes to complete, but don’t be surprised if it takes a little longer – especially if you want to toast marshmallows, sample the food trucks, or enjoy a drink at the bar. Running from Friday, 27th October to Sunday, 9th November, it’s an event for all ages, with children under three even going free!

As GlasGLOW is entirely outdoors, make sure to wrap up warm, as Glasgow can get particularly chilly at this time of year.

Solve Puzzles and Crack Codes to Break Free at the Ghost of Mary Queen of Scots Escape Room

One of the best things to do any time of year – let alone at Halloween – is an escape room, and this one certainly doesn’t disappoint. Located in Glasgow’s West End, this experience plunges you into the gruesome world of Mary Queen of Scots.

Your mission is to uncover the secrets of Mary’s life while working as a team to solve puzzles, crack codes, and unravel riddles – all while working against the ticking clock. Will you escape in time, or become another victim of the castle? Time will tell!

This Mary Queen of Scots escape room is sure to be a fun and entertaining Halloween activity in Glasgow!

Get Some Legendary Mac&Cheese and Watch a Spooky Film at Sloans

Mac and Cheese sharing feast from Sloans – it was delicious!

One of my favourite things to do in Glasgow in the lead-up to a seasonal event like Halloween or Christmas is heading to Sloan’s for their Eat Film night. For this event, you’ll be treated to a delicious meal (including their legendary mac and cheese), dessert, and a cocktail – all while watching a film in their beautiful grand ballroom. The films are always seasonally themed – think horror classics for Halloween and festive favourites at Christmas.

This year, on 30th October, Sloan’s will be showing The Addams Family and Halloween (1978). It makes for the perfect Halloween date night!

Pick Up Some Spooky Supplies At The Witches’ Cove Market

This year, on Halloween night (from 5pm–10pm), head down to the Barras Art and Design Centre (BAaD) for the Witches’ Cove Market. The venue will be filled with various readers, from psychic and Reiki readers to tarot readers.

Expect stalls selling candles, incense, crystals, ritual baths, books, mystery boxes, curiosities, herbs, magical oils, and more – perfect for treating yourself or picking up a spooky gift for someone else.

Each ticket also includes entry into a raffle, and fancy dress is encouraged – so dust off your broomstick, throw on your best witchy outfit, and make your way down to the Barras!

Top Glasgow Attractions to Explore This Halloween

Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis

If you’re looking for eerie Glasgow attractions perfect for Halloween, Glasgow Cathedral and the Necropolis are top of the list.

The Glasgow Cathedral, one of the city’s most striking landmarks, is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, built between the 13th and 15th centuries. You can even join a free guided tour of the cathedral from Monday to Saturday – just ask when you arrive!

For a truly spooky experience, head to the nearby Necropolis. Perched on a hill overlooking the Cathedral and Glasgow skyline, this Victorian graveyard has been the final resting place for around 50,000 people since 1833. The Necropolis is also one of the best places to watch the sunset in the city, in my opinion.

You can join a Glasgow Necropolis group tour to explore the fascinating funerary sculptures, learn more about the Victorian period, and hear chilling tales about the people buried here – a perfect way to explore the darker side of Glasgow’s history this Halloween.

Spooky Halloween Events in Glasgow for Adults

Jump Out of Your Skin At Kelburn’s Haunted Forest

Just 50 minutes from Glasgow, Kelburn Castle and Estate transforms every Halloween into an immersive horror experience. Be warned, though – it’s not for the faint-hearted!

This year’s event, aptly named Nightmare, runs from Wednesday, 15th October to Sunday, 2nd November. As the sun sets, you’ll embark on an adventure that will take you deep into its eerie forest.

I haven’t been myself, but a friend who went a few years ago swears it’s genuinely terrifying. So, if you’re a fan of a good jump scare, this one’s definitely for you!

Ride The Park After Dark At M&D’s

M&D’s theme park transforms into a Zombie Checkpoint this Halloween.

From Friday, 10th October to Friday, 31st October, M&D’s, Scotland’s biggest theme park, is hosting Zombie Checkpoint. This event is for over-18s only – expect jump scares, sudden loud noises, and flashing lights.

On your mission, you’ll navigate a series of security terminals across a vast zombie-filled maze, securing checkpoints to earn points in a race against other teams to be the top survivors. Lace up your running shoes – you’ll need them! You’ll also have the chance to enjoy a selection of M&D’s outdoor rides too.

Family-Friendly Halloween Events in Glasgow

Enjoy a Fun-Filled Day Out at Glasgow’s Spooktacular

Back by popular demand, the much-loved Spooktacular event is making its grand return from Friday, 3rd October to Sunday, 26th October – this time at a brand-new location, 225 South Street in Glasgow.

Expect a full-on Halloween carnival atmosphere. Your ticket includes four hours of unlimited access to all the attractions, with something for everyone – from adrenaline-pumping rides to family favourites and gentler options for children under 1.2 metres.

There’s also plenty of food stalls, sweet treats, and entertainment to keep the energy high between rides. Whether you’re looking for a great family day out or a night of laughs with friends, Spooktacular promises a lot of Halloween fun.

Get Ready for a Night of Experiments at the Glasgow Science Centre

The Glasgow Science Centre is a brilliant family day out all year round, but on Friday 24th October from 6–9pm, it transforms into a Halloween Family Party.

Round up the family, throw on your best costumes, and get ready to explore three floors of interactive exhibits and eerie experiments – all with a spooky seasonal twist (it is Halloween, after all!).

But the fun doesn’t stop there. You can also take part in a Mission to Titan in the planetarium, witness a Frankenstein dissection, and, if you’re after something a little more light-hearted, dance the night away at the Monster Mash disco.

Wander Along the Halloween Trail at Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve

If you’re looking for something a little different this October, head to RSPB Lochwinnoch Nature Reserve, just a 30-minute drive from Glasgow. Throughout the month, the reserve transforms its woodland paths into a Halloween-themed trail – the perfect day out for families!

As you wander along the trails, keep your eyes peeled for spooky characters hidden along the way — it’s a fun, light-hearted challenge that adds a little adventure to your walk. To join in, pick up an activity pack from the visitor centre, complete with a scavenger hunt guide and a few extra surprises to keep things fun.

Once you’ve spotted all the Halloween characters, head back to the visitor centre to collect your reward and maybe treat yourself to something warm to drink while you’re there. It’s such a lovely way to spend a crisp autumn afternoon outdoors.

If you’re looking for a night out in Glasgow, Sauchiehall Street is the place to go!

If you’re after a Halloween night out in Glasgow, you’ll be spoiled for choice — pretty much every club in the city throws some kind of Halloween event.

There are too many to list, but your best bet is to start on Sauchiehall Street, where places like FirewaterThe Garage, and Buff Club will undoubtedly have some event on. Win Prizes At Bongo’s Bingo Halloween Special

If you want my recommendation for a Halloween night out, it would be making your way to SWG3 in Glasgow’s West End for Bongo’s Bingo Halloween: The Carnevil, happening on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th October.

Bongo’s Bingo is no ordinary night out—it’s part bingo and part rave. Expect cheesy sing-alongs, dance-offs, crazy prizes, and stacks of cash to be won.

I’ve been to Bongo’s Bingo in Glasgow a couple of times, and I can honestly say it’s one of the most fun nights out you’ll have – perfect for a group of friends looking to have a great Halloween!

Tips for Planning Your Glasgow Halloween Weekend

Merchant City (pictured) is a good central location to stay in when visiting Glasgow.
  • Book early: Glasgow’s Halloween events sell out fast — especially big events like GlasGLOW and Bongo’s Bingo. Grab your tickets in advance to avoid missing out.
  • Dress for the weather: October in Glasgow can be so chilly (and wet), so pack layers, a waterproof jacket, and wear comfy shoes – ideal for walking tours or outdoor events.
  • Embrace the costumes: Glaswegians love a good dress-up! If you’ve forgotten to bring a costume, head to Queen Street; there are loads of seasonal Halloween shops that pop up at this time of year.
  • Stay Central if Possible – Choosing accommodation in Glasgow near Buchanan Street or in Merchant City will mean that you’re close to the city centre and a lot of the main attractions.
  • Include Free Experiences – Glasgow has plenty of free attractions. Check out my guide on free things to do in Glasgow, so your trip doesn’t end up costing a fortune.
