In contrast, the Sahara Desert spans over 9 million square kilometres across multiple countries, including Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, and more. The Moroccan Sahara, often explored via Merzouga and the Erg Chebbi dunes, is hundreds of kilometres from Marrakech.

Some travellers also take guided tours to take the stress away from having to plan a trip to the Sahara or do all the driving.
