Whether you’re after the quickest, cheapest, or most comfortable way to reach the heart of Marrakech, this guide breaks down everything you need to know about getting from Agadir Airport to Taghazout – smoothly, safely, and stress-free.

Agadir Airport to Taghazout Distance and Travel Time

Getting from Agadir Airport to Taghazout is relatively straightforward. The airport does sit around 30 miles (or 49km) from Taghazout. In theory, that’s about a 55-minute drive from the terminal to Taghazout.

Private Transfer or Taxi from Agadir Airport to Taghazout: The Comfiest Option

🚕 When booking your stay in Marrakech, it’s worth checking if your accommodation offers an airport shuttle service – sometimes, it’s even included in your booking or added for a small fee! It can save you both the hassle and the cost of organising a private transfer or taxi. I stayed at Surf Coast Morocco in Taghazout, and they offered transfers for €20pp.

In my opinion, the best option for getting from Agadir Airport to Taghazout is by a private transfer. It’s the quickest, comfiest choice, and since it takes you directly to your accommodation, it’s also the most convenient.

It’s not overly pricey either. A private transfer costs just over £25 for groups of up to 8 people – meaning if you had all 8, it would only cost £3pp. Unfortunately, if you’re a solo traveller, you would have to pay the full £25!!

It’s relatively fast to get through passport control at Agadir airport, and the airport itself is super small, so it’s easy to spot your driver waiting with a sign.

I’d definitely recommend booking your private transfer in advance, so you don’t have to worry about sorting a taxi when you land. That being said, if you forget to organise a private transfer before you go, you’ll find plenty of taxis waiting just outside the arrivals terminal.

The official Marrakech taxis are white and yellow with a rectangular sign on top and a checkered line on the side, so you can’t miss them. A taxi is pretty similarly priced to a private transfer, costing you about €20. Make sure you bring Moroccan Dirham to pay for the taxi, as they don’t always accept cards. One important tip, though: always agree on the fare before you jump in!

Bus from Agadir Airport to Taghazout: The Cheapest Option

There are, unfortunately, no direct buses from Agadir Airport to Taghazout. Therefore, you would need to get the bus from Agadir Airport to the city centre of Agadir, before switching to a bus to Taghazout.

This isn’t the most convenient option as it does take around two hours and three bus changes, but it’s ideal if you’re on a budget as the journey in total costs roughly 20MAD or €2. Just remember to bring cash with you.

Firstly, you’ll need to walk about 5 minutes from the airport to a roundabout (rond point aéroport), where you’ll wait for bus number L37 to turn up. Take this bus to Jihadia – Souk Inezgane, which takes roughly L37 minutes and is 13 stops. Next, switch here to bus number L95 and take this to Wilaya-Jardin Belvedere, only 10 minutes and 5 stops.

For the final leg of the journey: You’ll want to take bus number L32 or L33 heading north to Taghazout. This should take 35 minutes and 20 stops.

The bus driver may not speak much English, so I’d recommend downloading Google Maps offline and showing them where you need to go. They’ll be able to let you know when to get off, or you can simply follow the journey on your map – your phone should still track your location via GPS, even without the internet.

Here’s the logistics: These buses don’t run that regularly, usually during daylight hours, starting early in the morning around 5am and stopping at 5.30pm. So, this is only really a valid option if your flight arrives during these times.

Tickets can be bought directly from the bus driver in cash. I’m not sure about card payments, so it’s best to bring cash to be on the safe side. But otherwise, it’s a great option if you’re looking for something cheap and cheerful!

Car Rental at Agadir Airport: The Wild Card Option

I hired a car and drove from Marrakech all the way to Merzouga and back!

Agadir Airport is a handy spot to grab a hire car if you’re planning on driving in Morocco. There are loads of rental companies based right inside the airport. This makes it super convenient to pick up your car as soon as you get off your flight.

I hired a car and road-tripped all the way from Marrakech to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara – and I absolutely loved it!

Driving gives you so much freedom to explore at your own pace, but it’s not without its challenges – like navigating unfamiliar road signs or just getting used to the driving culture. Still, if you’re up for it, it’s one of the best ways to see the country!

🚗 If you want to compare car rental companies, then use DiscoverCars or AutoEurope. Both are very reliable websites that will help you to find the best car rental deals by comparing the prices and ratings of hundreds of companies in Morocco.

What to Expect When You Arrive at Agadir Airport

Agadir airport itself is relatively small, so once you’re through passport control, it’s quite straightforward to find your way out.

I also highly recommend getting a Moroccan SIM card, especially if you plan on driving in Morocco. There are lots of SIM card shops at the airport. As much as these are great for convenience, they cost more.

If you’re heading into Agadir, go to one of the official telecom boutiques, like Orange, Inwi, IAM Maroc Telecom, in the city centre (near big markets/shops like Souk El Had).
